Hi! I’m Megan, a current master’s student with a bachelor’s in psychology. I was a spanish tutor in college, but specifically chose math tutoring because I was in all advance math classes in primary school. In fact, I was one of two students to take Calculus my senior year of high school. I have experience with kids with disabilities as well, as I have a certification in behavioral therapy. I would be more than happy to help anyone/everyone!

Everyone learns in a different way. I help my learners discover/remember the techniques that will maximize the time they have to work with, even after our tutoring sessions have ended. There is nothing better than watching a student have an "ah-ha" moment when they have a new understanding in their learning!

Hey there! My name is Ishan Khetarpal, and I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Arlington. As someone who has had nearly 3 years of successful tutoring experience, even working with larger organizations including Gideon and Kumon, I absolutely adore being able to help people learn concepts that they struggle with. I have tutored both commercially and privately, working with children in kindergarten up to young adults in their high school careers. I primarily specialize in teaching English and Literature, working calmly and slowly explaining concepts to children having trouble. My goal as a tutor is not just to produce result

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Tutors.

What is special education tutoring?

Special education tutors help students with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. Special needs tutors modify the general education curriculum to meet the child's individual needs and involve themselves in each student's social and behavioral development.

What is disability in special education?

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) identifies 13 disability categories where special education should be provided.

  • Auditory Impairment (AI) – refers to a hearing loss not categorized by deafness.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – mainly affects a child's social and communication skills and behavior.
  • Deafness – covers kids who can't hear most or all sounds, even with a hearing aid.
  • Deaf-Blindness (DB) – covers kids with both severe hearing and vision loss that requires unique programs.
  • Emotional Disturbance (ED) – various mental health issues such as anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
  • Intellectual Disability (ID) – covers disabilities such as below-average intellectual abilities, poor communication or social skills, and poor self care. One example is down syndrome.
  • Multiple Impairments (MI) – a child with multiple disabilities in this list.
  • Orthopedic Impairment (OI) – covers impairments in kids who lack function or ability in their bodies, such as cerebral palsy.
  • Other Health Impairment (OHI) – conditions that limit a child's strength, energy, or alertness such as ADHD.
  • Specific learning disability (SLD) – conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, or nonverbal learning disability.
  • Speech or Language Impairment (SI) – covers difficulties such as stuttering, pronouncing words, making sounds with the voice, or understanding words.
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) – injury to the brain caused by a physical force.
  • Visual Impairment / Blindness (VI) – covers both partial sight and blindness.

Reviews for Dallas special education tutors

Recent success stories from people in the Dallas area.
Nancy S.
Ms.Chistine was extremely helpful with tutoring my son. We specifically needed support with his upcoming 5th grade STAAR & entering 6th grade ISEE exams, which she provided. She was patient, straightforward, engaging, and kind. My son was able to quickly warm up to her. I really appreciated the strategies she taught him to use during his exams and we saw tremendous growth. (He mastered both exams!) I would most definitely recommend Ms.Christine for your child's tutoring needs.

I really loved working with Learning Tree Tutors from start to finish. From the initial customer service call in understanding our options, finding the right tutor for my son, the immediate placement and flexible of our schedule. They did a great job. So great, that once we reached our SAT prep goals, we decided to continue with their service. Learning is a forever thing and we will continue to grow with them. Thank you for all that you do!
